Operating Recommendations

QUINTOLUBRIC® 888 SERIES FLUIDS
Recommended Operating Temperature for QUINTOLUBRIC® 888 Series Fluids We recommend the operating temperature be 50°C (120°F) to 54°C (130°F) for systems operating in a wet area or where the environment is humid. If the system is in a dry area and the humidity is normally 60% or under we recommend 38°C (100°F) to 43°C (110°F) as an operating temperature. Temperatures of 71°C
(160°F) can be tolerated for a short period of time (2 to 3 days), but is not recommended for longer periods of time.
Recommended Elastomers for QUINTOLUBRIC® 888 Series Fluids

Nitrile (BUNA-N): 30% or higher nitrile rubber content.

Viton: Viton is also a very good choice if the system is subjected to temperatures of 82°C (180°F) or higher. However, the BUNA-N elastomer exhibits reduced compression set and is less costly.

Polyurethane: This material is compatible. However, this compound will also harden when temperatures are above 71°C (160°F).

Nylon: Same as polyurethane.

Neoprene: This elastomer is compatible for static
not dynamic conditions. However, the material will
work harden and crack prematurely when temperatures reach 77°C (170°F) or higher. Even when the temperatures are moderate the material may work harden and crack without any warning.

Material that should NOT be recommended as a seal of choice

Butyl: This compound should not be used with
QUINTOLUBRIC 888 Series Fluids.

Low Nitrile: This elastomer should not be used with QUINTOLUBRIC 888 Series Fluids.

Recommended Filtration For QUINTOLUBRIC® 888 Series Fluids

Standard Industrial Systems:
Ten micron filtration recommended.

Metering Systems: Proportional/servocontrol
We recommend 3 micron filtration for precision metering systems.

Recommended Heater Wattage for QUINTOLUBRIC® 888 Series Fluids

Fluid velocity 0.6 to 1.2 m/s (2-4 feet/sec.):
1.9 watts/cm2 (12 watts/sq. inch)

Fluid velocity less than 0.6 m/s (<2 ft/sec.):
1.4 watts/cm2 (9 watts/sq. inch)

Very low flow areas (Bulk Storage):
0.5 watts/cm2 (3 watts/sq. inch)
